Bordeaux harnesses the power of iPhone

CIVB hopes to launch free app on 1st October 2010

Decanter magazine today reported that Bordeaux is launching an iPhone application which will use photo recognition technology to provide users with information about the wine.

The application which will enable users to take a photograph then receive information about the wine "from the grape variety and appellation, to drink dates and food pairings", says Decanter.

Christophe Chateau (from Bordeaux's trade and marketing body, the CIVB) is quoted as saying "People say Bordeaux is hard to understand and old-fashioned ... The goal of this App is to help consumers to understand Bordeaux and buy the region's wines."
